This is a documentary project that we have been developing over the last few years, about a family of Kalbeliya nomads who live in the Thar desert, in Northwest India. Traditionally, the Kalbeliya move from place to place making a living mostly from snake catching, performing and begging. But changing times, together with government incentives, are seeing more and more Kalbeliya transition from a nomadic to a sedentary lifestyle.

Tiku is part of this dying tradition of nomadism, still living with his family out of their camel cart, travelling from town to town in the desert, much as his family have for hundreds of years before him.

But Tiku’s father recently announced that he has bought a plot of land and Tiku has a vision for the house he is going to build. This story follows this community as they build their first home, exploring the end of their nomadic traditions through the eyes of three different generations.
